Welcome to SuddenlyMom.com!
Suddenly Mom will chronicle my story of turning from a single professional twenty-something, into an overnight mother of two beautiful, special needs boys. This blog will also comment on reader discussions and share recipes, ideas, product and service reviews, as well as website recommendations.
A LITTLE ABOUT ME...
My name is Lindsay. I am a 31-year old mom of two boys who loves camping, swimming, and most things outdoors. In 2008, I got licensed to do foster care, and it took the child placing agency eight months to call me with a potential placement. When they did, I was given an hour's notice to come get the boys. They were both in very rough shape, and, as I will elaborate on in my blog, brought challenges I could have never dreamed of. Yet, from the moment I saw them, we shared a bond. The next two years were a roller coaster, as any fostering-to-adopt placement is, but in 2010, the boys and I adopted one another as a family.

I have since shed my professional career, attempted to return to the grandiose world that is academia, and put my most important job, motherhood, first and foremost. I spend my days researching things such as the effects of DHA and Red 40 on children, writing and implementing lesson plans, attempting to write my own Master's thesis, and advocating for the special education assistance my children need.
From foster care to adoption, Fetal Alcohol Syndrome to PTSD in kids, Omega-3 acids to Melatonin supplements, Chuck E. Cheese to Disney World, Carter's to The Children's Place, or learning the difference between Obi-Wan Kenobi and Ben Tennyson - these children have taught me as much, if not more, than I have taught them, and I hope to share some of this continual knowledge I've been blessed with since becoming a mother. And what Mommy-Blog site would be complete without some of the fun, silly moments that can only come those special moments from real daily lives with kids.
